Smoke Detectors Mandatory in all NSW homes from May 1, 2006
From May 1, 2006, all NSW homes were required to have at least one working smoke alarm installed. This includes rental properties, owner occupied, and temporary accommodation.
The NSW Government has introduced this legislation to help prevent loss of life due to house fires.
